exciting times

Hey Everyone-
We know we haven't posted in while...but don't worry we are on top of it.  Fuse kicked off first semester with new small groups, events, and a gathering.  It has been exciting as many young adults have gotten plugged in.  We're anticipating a great 2008 with ya all!  Keep coming back to this site for updates.

make plans

Make plans for our kick-off gathering October 25th at 7:00pm in the BCC Kids Chapel...We'll see you there!

changing the name

Hey everyone so we are changing from Fundamentals Young Adults to FUSE Young Adults!  So when your looking for more information on us...just look for the word FUSE.

what's going on

Hey everyone we know it's summer and that means sun, family, fun, friends, vacation and definatley no studying.  Well we still want to hear from you!  Summer is almost over and we are excited about the upcoming year, but we don't want to miss out on all the great things that happend this summer... so what are your summer stories?

the best years

It is said that college and your early twenties will be some of the best years of your life.  I am still in my twenties (not early though..but mid) and I went through the college years.  My college years were some of the best years of my life.  So many different things happen when your in college; we move away from home, we develop lifelong friendships, we make our own curfew, we get to decide if we go to that 8:00AM History of the French Revolution class, we become more established with our dreams, we learn to survive on $10 a week, we sometimes find "the one", we grow from child to adult, we probably consume too much coffee, but most importantly we have a great opportunity to develop a deep friendship with Jesus.

Summer is a great time of developing and cultivating our relationship with the Lord.  Summer provides a break from the busy schedules of college and work.  May I encourage you as you break for summer not to break from your friendship with the Lord.  As you vacation and rest may you study the Word, journal, and pray.  Sit on the beach and watch the waves, go to the local coffee shop with Jesus, drive in your car with the worship turned way up, lay in the grass and look at the stars,  put into persepective how great our God is, and how extrodinary it is that He wants to have relationship with us.  May you be able to look back and say that these were some of the best years of your life, not because of all the great things you did, but because you grew in friendship with Jesus.  May you grow!

friday chat

Pull up a seat for a friday chat. How are you doing?

Hmmm . . . well, since you can't answer me right now, I'll assume you're doing OK. Earlier this week, I was reading through chapters 3 and 4 of Colosians and two distinct perspectives emerged from the text.

First, a suggestion on how we as Christians should strive to conduct ourselves. Paul writes, "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God through Him" (here). A few verses later, the scripture reads: "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men" (here).

I like how the phrase whatever you do is repeated. From 9 to 5, on Wednesdays, on Tuesdays, at church, away from church, on the weekend, on vacation, playing water polo--whatever you do, do it in the name of Jesus and do it for Him.

So, this first portion of scripture challenges us on our behavior towards God. But what about our friends, family or people we know or work with who don't know the Lord yet?

As Colosians rolls on into the fourth chapter, Paul approaches this subject. From Colossians 4:2-6, here are three ways we can approach unsaved people within our sphere of influence:

(1) Pray earnestly, vigiliantly, and with thanksgiving
(2) Walk in wisdom and redeem the time
(3) Speak with grace and season it with salt--have an answer for each person

Well, that's it. I've been challenged by this portion of Colossians. But I'm glad for the clarity of God's book, the Bible, and the richness of each word. There are endless treasures in the deep waters of scripture--let's keep searching and redeeming our time.

radio stars

They say that "video killed the radio star," but I've discovered a radio frequency you might be interested in. Calvary Satellite Network broadcasts 30 minute Bible teaching segments most of the day. You can find it here in Toledo and the Border Land (Bedford) at 100.7FM. Or, you can listen to their live stream online right here. I once heard the following advice about listening to the radio on your way to work: It can either be a waste of time, or time well spent. If you have a long drive to work and you can pick up 100.7FM (the signal can be weak), I encourage you to give it a try--it might be time well spent.
